En ces temps où nous sommes confinés et confits, et en hommage pour tous les actifs durant cette pandémie, voici pour vous, quelques réalisations qui devaient être exposées*, Espace Béraire, à La Chapelle St Mesmin (Loiret, France), du 3 au 5 avril 2020.

In these times when we are confined and confined, and as a tribute to all those active during this pandemic, here for you, some creations which were to be exhibited*, Espace Béraire, at La Chapelle St Mesmin (Loiret, France), from 3 to April 5, 2020.

Étrange à chapeau. Marbre rose du Portugal, 2019Nature : Marbre rose du Portugal, dit « Marbre portugais d’Estremoz ». 2019.
Localisation : Régions d’Estremoz, de Vila Viçosa et de Borba, Alentejo, Portugal. Anticlinal d’Estremoz, située dans la région de l’Alentejo.
Géologie : Issus de calcaires marins, affectés par des événements tectono-métamorphiques.
Âge : Cambrien (542-488 Ma).
Technique : Sculpture par abrasion à vitesse lente. Outils : meuleuses droite et d’angle.
Dimensions : ~38x15x11 cm ; poids : 7,2 Kg.

La roche brute m’a été donnée par Claude Bertrand, maître sculpteur.
Elle provient, sans doute, des carrières de marbres roses de l’Alentejo au Portugal comme celle de Vila Viçosa (http://lejardinduportugal.over-blog.com/article-vila-vicosa-capital-du-marbre-alentejo-38400949.html) ou de Vigaria près de la ville d’Estremoz (https://www.marbrek.com/Photos_vigaria.html).

Nature: Pink marble from Portugal, known as “Portuguese Estremoz marble”. 2019.
Location: Estremoz, Vila Viçosa and Borba regions, Alentejo, Portugal. Estremoz anticline, located in the Alentejo region.
Geology: Coming from marine limestones, affected by tectono-metamorphic events.
Age: Cambrian (542-488 Ma).
Technique: Sculpture by slow speed abrasion. Tools: straight and angle grinders.
Dimensions: ~38x15x11 cm; weight: 7.2 kg.

The raw rock was given to me by Claude Bertrand, master sculptor.
It undoubtedly comes from the pink marble quarries of Alentejo in Portugal such as that of Vila Viçosa (http://lejardinduportugal.over-blog.com/article-vila-vicosa-capital-du-marbre-alentejo-38400949 .html) or Vigaria near the town of Estremoz (https://www.marbrek.com/Photos_vigaria.html)

Nature : Basalte. 2019.
Localisation : Roche de la région d’Agde, ce basalte est une roche « volante » (qui ne vole pas ; mais qui a été trouvée sur un chemin !). Ce basalte est issu peut-être ? du volcan d’Agde ou plutôt du Massif central (roche rapportée).
Géologie : Lave basaltique.
Technique : Sculpture à vitesse lente.
Dimensions : 17x20x13 cm.

Nature: Basalt. 2019.
Location: Rock from the Agde region, this basalt is a “flying” rock (which does not fly; but which was found on a path!). This basalt came from perhaps? from the Agde volcano or rather from the Massif Central (reported rock).
Geology: Basaltic lava.
Technique: Slow speed carving.
Dimensions: 17x20x13 cm.

Buste sans tête, de « marbre » beige à veinules de couleur caramel (« marbre de Vérone » donné par Claude Bertrand). J’ai conservé l’une des faces du marbre pour la beauté de sa patine ocre rouge.

Nature : Marbre jaune beige,  »Giallo Reale ». 2019.
Localisation : Provinces de Vérone à Vicenze, Préalpes vénitienne, Italie.
Technique : Sculpture par abrasion à vitesse lente.
L’une des faces évoquait un buste sans tête. Homme ? Femme ? J’ai conservé le doute. L’autre face remarquable pour la beauté de sa patine ocre rouge a été préservée.
Dimensions : ~42x21x15 cm ; poids : 15,9 Kg.

Nature: Beige yellow marble, ‘Giallo Reale’. 2019.
Location: Provinces from Verona to Vicenza, Venetian Prealps, Italy.
Technique: Slow speed abrasion carving.
One of the faces resembled a headless bust. Man ? Women ? I retained the doubt. The other side, remarkable for the beauty of its red ocher patina, has been preserved.
Dimensions: ~42x21x15cm; weight: 15.9 kg.
